Ugstore, the father of Gnomes.

Ugstore was known as the Father of Gnome’s. He had wavy red hair, which was sprinkled with salt and saffron. His physique was notably, muscular, and heavyset, because he had walked all over the lands of Mernac. He carried a knapsack, in which he kept herbs and odd bits n pieces. In his worn boots, he carried a small-concealed blade, both for protection and for hunting. He had deep-set eyes that were the color of ripe plums, and thick eyebrows that dangled across his vision. Making him see trees that were not there, he suffered many times with a bloody nose when he walked into a tree, thinking it was his eyebrow hair. His lips were full and the color of a ripened peach. Overall, Ugstore appeared to have a craggy face, that had seen many seasons and been exposed to the varied elements of Mernac.

Ugstore often wore, other races cast off clothes. He cared naught whether the clothing is from the light or dark. If he liked a piece, he would wear it until it fell from his body, or his darling wife stole it from beside the bed. Commonly he would be found wearing a red linen long-sleeved shirt and pants that appeared to have been made for someone very tall.

The perpetual wanderer with a unique gift who is a bit wacky and whose brusque personality often saw him running for his life. As was the case when he happened upon a certain nameless God bathing. Ugstore also came upon the Mothers having a women’s circle one day and was captivated by Canola. He was after all a male Gnome and a lustful little fur ball. He was also an information seeker, striking a bargain with the Goddess Dulan to provide the Mothers as much information as he could in exchange for recipes and herb information. It is widely known that Ugstore was excellent with bartering skills. He was after all the owner and operator of Mernac’s first Customs and Trumpery center. This also was a front for his information seeking abilities. Ugstore was also a calculating merchant, not as good as his wife was. Still he was canny and cunning. Often over charging on items and then feigning, his inability to calculate correctly if caught out.

The sages and scribes that know of these things say that Ugstore was given the recipe for tache, by the Goddess Dulan; he also made a life long promise to the Mothers to provide them with information. This also covered his future descendants.

Even though Ugstore was away from his family for many seasons, he still managed to father a son. Mercarsnel, who carried on in his father’s footsteps, making his father very happy. Ugstore also liked to scribe and he wrote the very first Secret One Book of Gnomes, in which he first penned a practical guide to Gnome lore. In this book, he kept all manner of information on all manner of races. Those that know of these matters, say that there is some rather incriminating evidence in the Secret One Book of Gnomes.
